In any profession, everyone benefits from learning new skills. Scientists, medical professionals, teachers, architects are required to continue their training so they can hone their skills and stay abreast of current techniques in their chosen profession.
Similarly, jewelry designers and makers continue their education beyond art school or if self-taught at local art schools.
As a jewelry artist, learning new techniques or improving upon skills results in better jewelry designs that I'm sure my customers will love and appreciate. I believe in continual learning so I can deliver the best jewelry that will last a lifetime.
For the past several years, I have been studying under the guidance of an experienced goldsmith in Washington, DC. I have taken classes in various goldsmithing techniques such as stone setting, appropriate and safe use of tools and soldering, design, and finishing jewelry correctly. The instructor is a master goldsmith with decades of experience. He is a stickler for design, finishing, safety and professionalism.
It is wonderful to learn all of the tips that make jewelry look like it belongs in Tiffany's or a high-end fine jewelry store. I can already see that I am finishing my jewelry more professionally.
I invite you to become a member of the CSJ Insider Club. Be the first to know about new arrivals, exclusive member offers, and get inside the studio to learn more about jewelry design.
